[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]I’ve never been much for fads. In fact I often find myself being the late-adopter when it comes to new things. But lately it seems that everyone is either talking about essential oils or knows someone that is asking “How they can help boost my immunity,” “Can they bring serenity to a stressful work environment,” or “Can essential oil’s replace common over the counter medications?” Most commonly I hear friends and family simply wanting to replace the products in their homes containing harmful chemicals with healthier… more natural solutions.
What are essential oils? Essential oils are the fragrant, highly concentrated natural constituents that are found in plants and as we all know, plants were man’s first medicines. A typical essential oil will contain more than one hundred unique chemical compounds, each of which exhibits a specific therapeutic property. This is the reason that many essential oils can be used for such a wide range of conditions.
How long have essential oils been used? Essential oils have been around for thousands of years. From Egyptian hieroglyphics and Chinese manuscripts, we know that priests and physicians have been using essential oils for centuries. In ancient Egypt, essential oils were used in the embalming process of and well-preserved oils were even found in the alabaster jars of Tutankhamun’s tomb. Since the beginning of human history, plants and their essential oils have been used to help heal the body for both physical and mental wellbeing.
How can essential oils help my family? In a world inundated with so many chemicals and toxins, it is no wonder that people are going back to basics and the simplicity of nature. There are far too many products on the market (and in our homes) with ingredients we know little about or how they will affect our bodies over time. 100% pure therapeutic essential oils give me the confidence to know that I am living a healthier cleaner life. My mother gave me one of the most important pieces of advice in my life… “If you don’t know what something is, don’t put it in or on your body” and essential oils are helping my family continue to live by that mantra. #thanksmom
What are the most popular essential oils? Lavender is perhaps the most common essential oil in use today. Lavender has a scent that is a wonderful blend of fresh, floral, clean, and calm. Its aroma has made the flower a classic for perfumes, soaps, fresheners, and beauty products. Lavender oil is a great beginner oil not only because of its classic scent but also because it is versatile. From skin care products to relaxing routines, this oil can easily infuse many areas of your life.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”1446″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]Lavender also…
- Naturally has sedative properties, many people use it to aid in sleep issues. You can add a few drops to a diffuser before bedtime for a relaxing and peaceful environment or add to your evening bath to help alleviate sore and aching muscles.
- Is a great choice to help relieve symptoms of sunburn or rashes.
- Helps prevent dandruff by adding a few drops to your shampoo, or use topically for dry or chapped skin.
- Has incredible antibacterial and deodorizing properties, even against bacteria within the Streptococcus species! Don’t let your carpets remain breeding grounds for odors and bacteria. Try mixing 8 drops of lavender oil with ½-cup baking soda, sprinkling over the carpet, and then vacuuming to clean and deodorize.
- Is a great moth and ant repellent.
